Automation
Understand how Proper moves bookings into jobs and routing workflows.
Automation
Automation controls what happens after a booking is created and paid or approved. Proper supports both live operations and isolated test-mode workflows.
Manual
Your team reviews the booking and decides when to create and assign the downstream job.
Automate
Proper can create jobs from eligible bookings and continue into routing and offer workflows based on your current settings.
Current default behavior
New onboarding accounts currently default to Manual for live mode and Automate for test mode. Update this in Settings → Automation.
Typical flow
- A booking is created from the public booking flow or internal operations UI.
- Payment and approval state determine whether the booking stays manual or moves forward automatically.
- When automation is enabled, Proper can create the related job and continue into routing.
- Jobs then move through assignment, execution, and completion workflows.
Important guardrails
- Test-mode records are isolated from live operational views.
- Inactive customers cannot start new bookings or subscriptions.
- Routing still depends on workforce availability and other scheduling rules.
Where to manage it
- Bookings: review booking state, payment readiness, and job creation.
- Jobs: manage assignment, routing, and fulfillment.
- Settings → Automation: change company defaults for scheduling behavior.
- Subscriptions: control recurring customer work and recurring automation behavior.
